Bathroom to Shower room in a 1930’s Semi-detached.
Forest Plumbing offers a complete fitted bathroom, fitted kitchen, plumbing, tiling, maintenance and home improvement service. Based in Cinderford & covering The Forest of Dean, Wye Valley, Coleford, Chepstow, Gloucester,Lydney, Monmouth, Ross on Wye and surrounding areas.
Another of the many bathroom to shower room conversions I have carried out. The usual constraints of the smallest room in the house.
The right hand wall is fully mirrored and was to stay, so particular care to be taken not to damage the mirror.
Simply knocking in a few places confirmed this NOT to be the case. The tiles virtually fell off the walls. Large sections of the top of the wall over the window were found to be completely loose, as in lifting the bricks out with your fingers… nothing really held the walls either side of the window together, apart from a timber lintel and hope! The outer walls are solid on the first floor, cavity on the ground floor.
A concrete spanlite was fitted over the window and the whole lot rebuilt to repair the structure. The old airbrick void was reduced to provide duct for ventilation.
Walls were dry-lined once repaired, all plumbing re-piped, including removing lots of old lead pipe (does add a certain something to ones drinking water) and the new suite fitted. Section of rotten floor replaced and new laminate floor fitted.
Shower cubicle fitted with waterproof laminate panels rather than tiles. storage cupboard under sink basin and WC cistern hidden in cupboard which provides a useful shelf area. New radiator and towel rail fitted, was a cold room in winter due to solid walls.
I think you will agree, a definite improvement!
